1- Infant Care

The first year of your infant’s life is a busy one that includes taking huge strides when it comes to his physical, social, and emotional development. Our Infant classroom is dedicated to creating a nurturing and safe environment for your infant to grow and learn. Every infant has his own disposition and develops at his own pace, which is why BossBaby Academy infant curriculum is individualized for each of our infants. Our highly trained and educated infant teachers combine developmentally appropriate activities with the social-emotional love and support your infant needs to grow and develop into a confident life-long learner.

Social & Emotional Development

At BossBaby Academy, our teachers understand the importance of and take great pride in planning activities to bond with your baby. BossBaby Academy infants build self-awareness and self-confidence when they receive special attention like cuddling, rocking, and being held by their teachers. These unique and intimate experiences build a sense of belonging and comfort, which leads to your child feeling safe, secure, and comfortable when exploring his environment and engaging with others.

Cognitive And Language Development

At BossBaby Academy, cognitive and language development occurs when your infant is inspired to explore his environment. Individual attention and age appropriate toys and materials come together to help your infant begin to develop and understand concepts such as cause and effect, spatial relationships, and problem solving skills. Our infant curriculum goal is to inspire your infant every day. Your infant is having fun learning by listening to stories, poems, nursery rhymes, and music every day, as well as building his foundation for future verbal communication and literacy through responses such as cooing, babbling, and facial gestures.

Motor And Creativity Development

BossBaby Academy Infant daily schedule follows the rhythm of your baby. We offer plenty of opportunities for your little one to develop his motor skills and improve his mobility. Our infant teachers assist and guide your infant through milestones such as holding his own bottle and participating in tummy time to developing early infant motor skills such as rolling over, sitting up, reaching, and more. Your little one will be crawling and walking before you know it!

In addition to exploring through movement, BossBaby Academy teachers are creating unique experiences for infants to experiment with their five senses. Through various sensory and tangible materials, as well as creative art materials such as paints and crayons, your infant is given the opportunity to express his individual personality as well as explore new materials and textures.

At BossBaby Academy, we meet the total needs of your infant on an individual basis. We provide daily progress reports to keep the lines of communication open and provide each parent with an update of your infant’s daily accomplishments and routine.

2-Pre-Kindergarten

Your child has developed the ability to discover and explore with new knowledge and interest. Our teachers provide your child with opportunities for exploration, fun and excitement. Our Pre-Kindergarten program is built upon supporting exploration and individual development based on each child's interest in preparation for the next level. We know that engaging your child in fun and exciting interactive experiences provides the foundation for active learning. Our teachers are dedicated and passionate about providing a loving, nurturing and safe environment.

Our Pre-K program exceeds any other program in the area; it is the equivalent to a kindergarten program. We know you have entrusted your most precious possession to our care, education, and guidance. We will do our very best to prove worthy of that trust. We are delighted to create for your child a happy, healthy, and loving environment. Our learning program is individually designed to challenge your child. All children are placed according to age and ability.

Every aspect of our Pre-K classroom is designed to enhance and demasvelop the natural learning ability of your precious child. We begin our school year with reviewing letters, numbers, shapes, colors, literacy, and tracing letters.

Our children then progress towards phonemic awareness and writing skills. They learn that each letter has a sound and those sounds are blended to form words, which is the foundation for reading readiness. We also work on math skills beginning with number recognition, number sequencing, number patterns, and simple addition and subtraction. About half way through the school year children are bringing home books to read with their parents. At the end of our program your child will be reading and writing on their own, even before they go to kindergarten. Your child will exclaim “Look mom & dad, I can read!”

 

Learning: Our excellent program will increase your child’s knowledge, create awareness, and stimulate their natural curiosity to learn, grow, and change according to their own age and ability. Our enrichment programs include Spanish and French and a wide variety of extracurricular activities.

Mathematics: Your child will count and compare objects and groups of objects. Your child will participate in making graphs, completing patterns and measuring things with conventional and nonconventional measuring tools.

Science: Children will make observations about themselves, classmates & teachers. They will explore and ask questions about other planets, the depths of oceans and will learn the importance of keeping the earth clean and how to recycle at school and home.

Books: Our four year olds practice blending sounds and reading every day. Our goal is to read by the time they advance to kindergarten. Literacy enrichment instills in your child a love for learning.

Music: Music enhances a child’s ability to develop rhythm, cadence, and assists in reading readiness and memory skills. Our curriculum is very musically oriented. Bells, tambourines, horns, and other instruments are part of everyday activities. Dancing and exercising to the sound of music is another part of our enrichment program.

Exercise: Exercise contributes to mental awareness and strengthens the body and core muscles. It strengthens and contributes to mental awareness.

Art: Our children love art; painting, coloring, drawing, arts & crafts, sewing, etc. Art is the expression of each child’s natural ability to view a place, person, or object according to their own perception

Nature Walks: Our children love nature walks and love to gather parts of nature like leaves, rocks, sticks, flowers, and grass. We appreciate the beauty of nature that surrounds us. Children love to pick flowers.

Nutrition: Proper nutrition is key in our children’s growth. Building strong bodies, minds, and stimulating mental awareness is our daily focus. We serve whole nutritional foods. Our children learn the four different food groups. All meals are home-cooked, nutritious and delicious at our day care/academy.

The Pre Kindergarten program is available at all 4 locations: Joliet, Lockport, Manteno and Orland Park.

 

3-Preschool

Our goal is to meet the total needs of young children with high quality child care, education and positive guidance. It is extremely important that we create a warm, loving environment so we can instill in our young children a Love for Learning that will last a lifetime. The purpose of Mary Sears Children’s Academy is to meet the total needs of your child, emotionally, physically, socially and intellectually with love and understanding.  The learning objectives of this curriculum are aligned with early learning and include child-focused activities that address language & literacy, math, science, social-emotional, and physical development.

Your child’s classroom will have an individualized lesson plan posted every week. Each activity on the lesson plan is purposeful and intentionally planned based on the teachers’ observations of each child in the classroom.

 

Everyday Experiences Help Children Learn About Language

To support language and literacy skills, teachers:

• Help children listen to and follow simple multi-step directions
• Model & teach children how to ask questions
• Teach children how to hold a book and turn the pages from left to right
• Read together in the reading area and during group time
• Sing songs with rhyming and repetition that builds vocabulary & encourages phonological awareness
• Describe things and have conversations that help increase communication skills and vocabulary

Developing Math Skills

Preschoolers discover mathematical relationships every day when they notice how things are similar or different, sort and match objects, talk about numbers, count, explore shapes, and describe patterns.

To encourage mathematical exploration, teachers:

• Sing songs, finger-plays and nursery rhymes that include numbers
• Use mathematical language, such as large/small, under/over, up/down to describe position and location
• Provide toys that engage children in exploring size and shape, such as blocks
• Provide tools that allow them to measure objects such as scales, rulers, measuring tapes, clocks, timers & measuring cups
• Count with children and touch each object as they count

Life Sciences – Your Child’s Start To Nature

Life science is learning about living things and preschoolers are fascinated by people, animals & plants.

To promote scientific learning, teachers:

• Provide magnifying glasses to explore objects
• Plant seeds and water plants with children
• Ask children to compare different types of leaves and objects found in nature
• Read non-fiction books about pets, plants, bodies, water, etc.
• Worm hunts
• Butterfly

Positive Learning

An important aspect of a child’s development is learning how to interact with peers and how to express their emotions in a positive way.

To help children develop and practice social-emotional skills, teachers:

• Provide children with opportunities to lead and gain a sense of independence through classroom jobs and making choices throughout their day
• Read books that are related to helping children describe and understand their feelings.
• Model appropriate interactions and help children develop the language to express their emotions
• Play games that encourage children to stop and go, thereby controlling their actions. For example, games like Red Light Green Light & Simon Says, which require children to think before they can act

Physical Health & Wellness

Playing outdoors every day is essential for children’s health and wellbeing.  At Mary Sears Children’s Academy, we have excellent outdoor facilities at each of our locations whereas, all children learn to laugh, run & have fun!

To promote healthy physical development, teachers:

• Provide balls, bean bags and materials for children to roll, throw, bounce, and catch
• Encourage children to collect, dump, and fill small objects, whether they are natural materials like leaves, seeds, shells, and rocks or they are toys to bring outdoors.
• Teach children how to garden and plant seeds or care for plants.

High-Quality Early Education

Our goal is to provide an individualized, responsive and inclusive educational approach for children and families that promotes opportunities for the healthy growth, education and development of infants, toddlers and their families. We regularly track and assess each child’s progress across early childhood development domains as well as assess our teachers and their interactions with the children under their care. Staff also participate in on-going training and coaching sessions.
